Leon's face darkened and went still as he fixed the nurse with a sharp look. "Transfer to which hospital? Who arranged this?"

"Mr. Kingston, we only received notice to arrange Miss Parker's transfer." The nurse remained calm and composed. "As for the destination, that decision will need to come from you. At this stage, we can only assist with the paperwork."

Everything in her tone made it clear that the matter wasn't open for discussion.

Helen stared at Leon, lost and bewildered. "Leon, is Diana really that angry with me? Is she truly determined to leave me with nowhere to go?"

Leon glanced at her. The absolute dependence in her eyes, always fixed on him, only deepened his headache.

He knew Diana. This was beneath her.

Without another word, he walked to the window and called his assistant. "The hospital is pushing for Helen's transfer. Find out who's behind it."

"Right away."

The reply came within minutes.

[Mr. Kingston, it was your father. He contacted the hospital director directly.]

Leon's brow tightened slightly.

[Understood.]

He knew his father's methods well. Joseph always appeared approachable on the surface, but once he made a decision, he would not budge.

Leaving the Huttons at Seraph Villa to come to the hospital had clearly not escaped his notice.

Joseph hadn't sent a single message. Instead, he had delivered his warning in the simplest and most direct way possible. If it happened again, it wouldn't stop at a transfer.

Leon pressed his fingers to the bridge of his nose before turning back to the nurse. "Go ahead and process a full discharge."

A transfer was pointless. No hospital in Jouleston would agree to take Helen now.

"Leon!" Helen's eyes widened. "You're abandoning me? My sister died alone in a hospital bed because nobody came and—"

"Helen." Leon's voice cut cleanly across hers. "Someone will arrive shortly to handle your discharge paperwork. Once you return home, a care team will be arranged for you."

He ignored what she had said about her sister. Turning away, he walked out of the room.
