Chapter 193
No. I refused to become that kind of woman. I wanted nothing to do with a messy love triangle.
I was tired. Completely worn down by it all. So, I made a decision. I was going to risk everything and find a new office space.
What I didn’t expect was a sudden turn of events that would change everything. Frederick showed up with Gabrielle and shut down the construction next door.
“The company issued an order. Renovation here is suspended for now,” Gabrielle said.
She handed a document to the team leader on the renovation site. After reading it, they immediately stopped the work.
I stared at her in disbelief. “What are you doing here?”
She gave me a sharp look. “Why didn’t you tell me you were dealing with something like this?”
I pressed my lips together and said nothing.
Frederick gave my shoulder a quick pat. I immediately turned and narrowed my eyes at him. “You
told her, didn’t you?”
He raised his hands with a shrug. “I didn’t say a word. She figured it out on her own. Her nose is sharper than a bloodhound’s.”
“Did you just call me a dog?” Gabrielle glared at him.
Frederick immediately stepped aside to give us space.
I nudged her hand lightly, feeling awkward. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to keep it from you.
“You absolutely meant to. If I hadn’t caught Frederick and forced it out of him, would you have ever told me?” She glared again.
I hesitated. “Gabrielle, I know how much this job means to you. You worked hard to get where you are. I didn’t want to drag you into conflict with Millenia. You’re a high–ranking executive now. It wasn’t easy for you to climb to this position. I didn’t want to ruin that for you.”
