Noelle nodded. "You're right."
It doesn't matter if Carl had changed because of this life's butterfly effect and would never do what he did in her past life. Noelle still planned to keep her distance from the Liddell family.
Once she had thought it through, she stopped obsessing over it. She turned to Mia. "You should really try that ointment. It works really well."
Grace chimed in, "I've got a scar on my arm, too. I'll test it first and see if it works."
Noelle twisted the cap open. No matter what it was, she wouldn't repeat her mistakes in this life.
That afternoon, she and Grace went to class together. On the way, they ran into some students from the business school.
Justin spotted Noelle, and his expression soured. "Why haven't we seen you showing off that flashy sports car lately? You've just been driving that busted old car. Where's the fun in that?"
Noelle shot back, "I didn't want to make jealous losers like you even more bitter."
Justin clenched his jaw. "You're really something, Noelle. You actually forced Samantha to drop out."
Noelle blinked in surprise. "She dropped out?"
Justin sneered. "Yes, she fucking did. Don't play dumb. The Merlocks are on the verge of bankruptcy and tangled up in a lawsuit. Did you think Samantha could still attend classes after all that?"
Grace snorted. "Serves her right. She was always arrogant and offended many people. Now that the tide's turned, of course, everyone's kicking her while she's down. It's just karma."
Justin actually agreed with that. Noelle glanced at him. "Congratulations, by the way. Xenia's due in a few months."
