No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 956

During dinner, Noelle discovered that the food was surprisingly good. Jeremy asked, "How is it?"

Noelle smiled and nodded. "Delicious."

"How does it compare to L Bistro?"

Noelle's hands paused slightly before she replied, "They each have their unique taste."

"L Bistro is a place for the wealthy. It's focused on appearances, prestige, and privacy. But this place is all about the food itself," Jeremy said, clicking his tongue.

Noelle glanced at him and asked, "Is this your restaurant?"

"No. The owner was about to go bankrupt due to poor management, but I represented him in court and won. That's how this old restaurant got saved."

"Glad you did. It would've been a shame to lose a place with food this good." Noelle nodded.

"Ms. Liddell, do you not get along with your family?"

"We don't. Did they reach out to you?"

Jeremy nodded, and Noelle frowned. "I'm in charge of the case, so don't believe anything they say."

She hadn't meant to hide that Jeremy was her lawyer, but she hadn't expected the Liddells to contact him behind her back.

Jeremy chuckled. "They've always favored that adopted daughter and mistreated you. Honestly, they're not worth your effort either."

Noelle had heard similar words too many times. She countered, "Don't you think I'm being too heartless?"

"Not at all. In my years as a lawyer, I've seen my fair share of monsters. People should honestly be a little more selfish; why burden yourself?"

She smiled. "You make a good point, but now that dinner's done, shall we get to business?"

Jeremy set his utensils aside, and his eyes behind those gold-rimmed glasses sharpened as he said, "That driver is still holding back crucial evidence. It's the key to taking down the Merlocks."
