After all, Cedric didn't believe anyone from the Liddell family could make decisions for Noelle. Alfred looked over. "But it is a matter between the Liddell and Merlock families, and Noelle is still a member of the Liddell family."
Cedric set down his phone. "Contact Noelle. The Liddells aren't qualified to handle this."
He knew better than anyone just how unreliable the Liddell family was.
Alfred scoffed. "Then why don't you contact her? You gave her a sports car and didn't even let her know it was from you. When did you become such a sucker? I never noticed you had it in you."
Cedric smiled bitterly. "I don't have any other way to win her over now. I wouldn't be this troubled if money could fix it."
Alfred also knew Noelle was stubborn. "If Noelle really won't let Liam take the case, then no other lawyer would likely do well under the pressure. After all, the Merlocks are influential. An average lawyer wouldn't even dare take this case."
"Didn't Liam have a protégé? Let him handle it." Cedric knew Noelle wouldn't trust him or any lawyer he arranged for her.
Alfred was baffled. "Are you serious? You will have Liam's protégé representing the Liddell family while Liam defends the opposing side. Do you think Noelle is stupid?"
"Liam's protégé isn't that kind of person. On the contrary, he'd cherish the opportunity to go head-to-head with his mentor." Cedric didn't make this arrangement lightly and had his reasons.
Alfred cocked a brow. "Fair enough. Looking around, no other lawyer is really on par with him other than Liam's protégé."
Cedric nodded. "Then it's settled. Go make the arrangements."
Alfred argued, "Why don't you go?"
Cedric sighed. "She won't accept it if I show up. Think of a way to get her to agree. We can't let the Liddell family decide on the lawyer. They're too unreliable."
Alfred nodded. "Alright, got it."
This was what friends should be like. He wasn't like Eugene, who would take advantage of the situation and demand a car the moment Cedric asked for help.
Meanwhile, Noelle felt better after taking the sports car out for a spin. But her cold got worse.
When she and Mia returned to the apartment, both of them were sneezing.
Eugene looked at them, speechless. "I'll go make some soup for both of you."
