When the Liddells and Noelle saw each other, they all had complicated expressions, especially after yesterday's product launch at Maple Enterprise.
Noelle and her brothers had schemed against each other to obtain the new product. Of course, Noelle ended up being the winner.
Donovan, in particular, looked at Noelle with a conflicted gaze. He never imagined that Noelle, whom he'd always dismissed, would uncover the truth about their parents' deaths.
As she was facing the Liddells, Noelle calmly asked, "Did you bring Xenia?"
Frank was the first to speak. "She's here. Lucas, Blake, and Carl will be back in a few days, too."
After all, the truth about their parents' deaths was too significant. Everyone in the Liddell family had to be present.
Noelle froze at the mention of Carl. In her past life, her brothers had rejected and abandoned her. Now, they no longer had the power to hurt her.
Without showing much of a reaction to their words, she said, "I hope you all stay clear-headed. Don't go soft just because Xenia sheds a few tears."
Frank stiffened awkwardly. "We won't. Don't worry; we won't be fooled by her again."
Donovan looked disgruntled. "Oh, please, we aren't that gullible."
Wyatt's expression was darker. "I'll keep a close eye on Xenia and won't let her pull anything else."
In an attempt to smooth things over, Frank added, "At least at this moment, we're all on the same side. No one wants to see the Merlock family pay more than we do."
"That's not necessarily true. What if the Merlock family offers to bail out Liddell Corporation from its financial crisis? Some people might be tempted," Noelle sarcastically commented.
Donovan knew she was aiming that comment at him and snapped, "Noelle, what's that supposed to mean?"
"It means exactly what it sounds like," Noelle replied. She decided not to waste more time arguing and turned to walk away.
Frank quickly held Donovan back and appeased him. "That's enough. We didn't come here to fight. We need to stand together and make the Merlock family pay."
Donovan gritted his teeth and held back his rage. "Fine. I'll let it slide for now, for Mom and Dad's sake."
