Donovan spoke coldly, "That's enough, Xenia. The condition for letting you stay here in the first place was that you'd mourn and apologize at our parents' memorial every day. Now go and do it."
"Donovan, but my stomach doesn't feel good." Xenia had no intention of keeping her promise.
Donovan's gaze sharpened. "Then move out if you don't want to do it."
"Donovan, how can you treat us like this? You never used to be this way." Wyatt couldn't understand why Donovan had changed so much.
Donovan looked at him with disappointment. "Xenia's father killed our parents. And now she's conspiring with outsiders to embezzle funds. If it weren't for you, I would've had her arrested by now!"
Just looking at Wyatt filled Donovan with frustration. He used to think Noelle was the one dragging the family down, always siding with outsiders. But now, he realized Noelle was actually incredibly capable.
The real disappointment was Wyatt. He was even planning to marry the daughter of their enemy!
Donovan stormed into the living room and downed a full glass of water. He had been in meetings all day and had no time to rest.
Wyatt didn't want to leave. And he couldn't, either. He turned to Xenia. "Go change your clothes and come back downstairs to apologize to my parents."
Xenia protested, "Wyatt, my stomach really hurts. What if something happens to the baby?"
Wyatt sighed. "I'll take you to see a doctor. Nothing's going to happen to the baby."
Xenia still felt wronged. Frank cut in coldly, "That might actually be for the best if the baby doesn't make it."
No one except Wyatt was looking forward to that child's birth. Xenia didn't want to leave either, so she had no choice but to obey and go upstairs to change. She was determined to keep that baby.
