Noelle stared at Blake with a mocking look. She sounded indifferent. "You don't need to explain. Honestly, I regret saving you back then. I nearly got myself killed for it."
She regretted ever sacrificing for her brothers in the Liddell family. They weren't worth it.
Blake looked utterly miserable. It took him a while to find his voice again. "I only treated you that way because I thought you abandoned me. That's why I bullied you and was so cruel to you. It was all because of Xenia."
"Was it just because of her?" Noelle's gaze was unwavering. "Did any of you ever trust me, even just a little?"
If they had, they wouldn't have believed Xenia so easily. But in the end, they all chose to believe that manipulative liar. She didn't need such siblings.
Blake panicked. "It's not like that! I know you're angry, but I'll punish Xenia to make it up to you."
His emotions were in complete turmoil. He had never experienced such humiliation in his entire life. Even his voice trembled.
Blake suddenly raised his hand and slapped Xenia. He growled, "I warned you'd face the consequences if you ever lied to me again. You've got some nerve to deceive me for so long!"
He wanted nothing more than to strangle her.
Xenia's face swelled from the slap. In desperation, she turned to Donovan for help. "Donovan, please save me! I was just scared and got confused. But I did go back to save Blake!"
She was terrified and didn't want Blake to beat her to death. He was a madman.
Donovan quickly pulled Xenia aside and scolded Blake, "What are you doing? Xenia was young back then. It's normal for her to remember wrongly."
"You're still covering for her?" Blake trembled with fury.
Xenia quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, Donovan, Blake. This is all my fault. I just joined the Liddell family and was afraid to speak out. That's what caused the misunderstanding."
Donovan nodded. "Blake, Xenia has already apologized. Let's not dwell on this. And don't lay a hand on her again. What would you do if an outsider saw this?"
Blake immediately slumped, defeated. "But everything happened because of this misunderstanding."
If not for that, he wouldn't have treated Noelle the way he did. He wouldn't have hurt her.
Blake couldn't help but glance at Noelle. "I'll turn myself in. I owe you too much. I'll take responsibility for everything."
Noelle remained silent. She hadn't expected Blake's attitude toward her to change so suddenly because of this truth. She never knew the truth in her past life, even to the day she died.
