No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 425

Noelle watched as Donovan's expression shifted.

She sneered and continued, "You always say that everything you do is for the sake of the family, but even when Frank came out in a wheelchair looking unwell, you never even asked him about his condition."

Donovan immediately raised his voice. "Is this how you talk to your older brother, Noelle?"

Noelle remained calm. "The guiltier someone is, the louder they'll speak so as to cover up their own mistakes."

Donovan was left speechless. He finally helped Frank up and noticed just how much weight Frank had lost when he lifted Frank up with ease as if he weighed nothing.

Donovan felt uneasy as he asked, "Why have you lost so much weight, Frank? Didn't you say that you were going to undergo surgery for your stomach issues? Have you not done it yet?"

Back in the wheelchair, Frank pushed Donovan's hand away and replied, "I was already in the hospital waiting for my surgery, Donovan. But after everything that's happened, I had to leave."

"I'll take care of everything now that I'm back from my business trip, so you should just focus on your surgery. If it's really serious, we can even get Carl to come back to operate on you," Donovan replied.

"There's no need for that, Donovan. It's not that serious. We don't have to trouble Carl for it."

"But she said that you got cancer! Isn't that serious enough?"

Donovan began to suspect that Noelle was lying and exaggerating about Frank's condition.

Frank just smiled bitterly and denied it. "No such thing."

Donovan immediately turned back to Noelle and shouted, "Hear that, Noelle? Frank said that he doesn't have cancer at all! You just want us to suffer, don't you?"

Noelle glanced at Frank and ultimately chose to say nothing. She realized that it was useless to reason with him. Any more, and she would just be meddling with his business.

She decided to leave, which caused Donovan's furious voice to ring out behind her. "Did I say that you could leave, Noelle? Blake just got disfigured! And you're just staying in this hospital without a care in the world?"

Noelle immediately turned around and replied, "Seems like they didn't dare to tell you the truth as well. Just wait for the police investigation to conclude then."

Frank tried to explain. "Donovan, do you really not know what kind of person Blake is, or are you just pretending not to?"

Everyone knew that Blake had always had a violent temper since they were young.

Donovan rubbed his temples and replied, "I just don't understand why Noelle can't take a step back for all of this. We never even treated her that badly, did we?

"Does she have to go so far as to send Lucas to prison? Does she have to go so far as to ruin Blake's career?"

Frank did not hesitate to expose Donovan right then and there. "Donovan, you know exactly why Lucas is in prison, and you know that this isn't the first time Blake has hit Noelle. You know all of this, but you just want her to take the fall for everyone.

"You're extremely hostile toward outsiders. That's fine. But why treat your younger sister like that, too? You're going to regret it someday."

"I'll never regret it. All these years, I've helped all of you build up your careers so that one day, we could return to Yasnia and avenge our parents! But look at what Noelle has done!" Donovan replied.

That was what truly angered him. But he could no longer turn back time. All he could do now was to salvage what was left.
