Alfred nodded. "Yeah, as long as Noelle's alive, that's all that matters. We'll get her back sooner or later."
Cedric spoke up after a long pause. "I want all available manpower mobilized. We must find them no matter what. Take them out if they resist."
It had been years since he had gotten such a strong urge to kill.
Eugene nodded and replied, "It's already been arranged. It will only be a matter of time until we catch them."
Not a single one of Noelle's friends could fall asleep that night. When the sun finally rose, Cedric could not even feel a trace of warmth despite basking in the sunlight. He had no idea how he even made it through the night.
Cedric stared at the surface of the river, wishing he could drain it dry in order to find any possible clue related to Noelle. All he felt at that moment was that a piece of his heart had gone missing. Even breathing alone had become an arduous task for him.
He could not imagine what it would be like if he really were to lose Noelle. Never before had Cedric desperately wished for the night to end sooner.
Alfred did not sleep either. He walked up to Cedric and said, "Eat up, Ced. Your body hasn't fully recovered yet, remember? Noelle wouldn't want to see something happening to you again."
Cedric continued staring at the river and did not take the food Alfred offered. Alfred got a little angry. "You can't just disregard your own health."
Cedric's eyes were slightly red when he looked up. His voice was hoarse. "Just being alive feels like torture while she's still missing out there. I've never even once thought about the possibility of ever losing her!"
Carl's words from last night had been repeating within his mind like a curse.
Cedric had suspected Noelle to be someone who had lived two lifetimes or, at the very least, possessed the memories of her previous life. He also understood what Carl said about fate being unchangeable.
But Cedric did not think any further than that. He was terrified that everything he had experienced with Noelle up to that point was merely a dream for her.
And now that Noelle had finally 'woken up,' she would completely disappear from his world.
