Knowing that this was something she'd agreed on with Carl, Noelle nodded. "Alright. But before I leave, there's something I have to tell him," she said, looking toward Cedric.
Carl's expression contorted in displeasure. "There's nothing left to say. You've done more than enough for him, so ignore him."
But that wasn't what Noelle meant either.
Cedric looked at her and calmly said, "Go ahead. We'll talk on the phone."
When Noelle met his eyes, she understood that he knew what she wanted to say, so it didn't matter if anything was said aloud anymore.
With that, she followed Carl and left the hospital. Cedric watched as she walked away with his hand at his side, slowly curling into a fist.
Magnus walked over and said, "Ced, you're not as calm as you look, are you?"
Standing tall with his sharp facial features obscured in the dim light, Cedric coldly said, "I won't let the Liddells get away with this."
When Andrew walked over, Cedric turned to him and asked, "Any progress on the antidote?"
"There's been a breakthrough. I have just sent an improved version of the antidote to the lab. I believe we'll soon isolate the full compound, and after that, we won't need to rely on the island's resources anymore."
"Good." Cedric had waited a long time for this day.
Magnus looked equally relieved. "That's great! Once that's settled, we won't have to keep tolerating the Liddells. They do have the nerve to try to threaten you and Noelle like that."
Cedric narrowed his eyes slightly. "Soon."
…
Noelle and Carl got into the car and headed back to the Liddell residence. The sight of the ring on Noelle's hand immediately irritated Carl. "Did you accept Cedric's proposal?"
Noelle gently touched the ring and replied, "Yes. I really like him."
"You're still young. Maybe you don't understand what liking someone really means."
