Noelle was caught off guard by the message, and it took her a moment to process the news. She found it hard to believe that Sean was actually dead.
She quickly asked in the group chat, "How? His death is too sudden."
After all, based on what Noelle knew about Sean and his people, they were so afraid of death that they would do anything to survive, even in prison. There was no way he would suddenly be dead. Besides, she'd never heard of Sean having any illness.
Eugene replied in the group, "Sean's death is definitely suspicious. He isn't someone who'll end his life just like that. There's absolutely no way it was suicide."
Jeremy replied, "The latest update from the prison is that Sean committed suicide. The body's been released, and I'm still digging for more info."
Noelle was speechless about the entire incident. It just did not make sense that Sean would die now, of all times. Something about this just felt off, and she could not help but wonder if Ivy somehow caught wind of their plan to investigate Sean.
Before long, Noelle received a call from Jeremy. She immediately asked, "Is the autopsy report out yet?"
Jeremy replied, "The autopsy isn't even the issue. Before Sean died, he met with someone—the lawyer who used to represent Mia."
Noelle was surprised. "Isn't that lawyer one of Ivy's people? Could it be that she had something to say to Sean? Or maybe their negotiation failed, so she decided to silence him?"
Jeremy responded, "Those are possible. Regardless, there must be a reason for her sudden visit to Sean."
Noelle couldn't help wondering if Ivy had sensed something or if their side had been exposed somehow. She said,
The period that followed was very peaceful. Noelle kept working overtime at Maple Enterprise until she finally submitted the phase results before New Year's Eve.
At the company-wide meeting before the holiday break, Alfred announced that everyone would receive a bonus, and the IT department would get triple the payout. Everyone was thrilled to hear this news.
After the meeting, Noelle went to Alfred's office and asked, "Has Mrs. Parham's investment money been returned?"
"Yes, it's been returned. Her friends had gotten their money back. However, some people still chose to believe in PZ Group and didn't request refunds."
Noelle sighed and said, "Sure enough, only greedy people get scammed. At least Mrs. Parham got her money back. That's what matters. We did everything we could."
