Ivy was in a terrible mood as she said, "As for that Noelle brat, we'll deal with her once we close the net.
"And oh, has Mike been ransomed back yet?"
"Not yet. Those mercenaries are asking for a staggering price, probably because Mike gave them some clues during interrogation," Owen replied.
"Stall them. Mike will be worthless once we pull the plug. Even if the whole thing gets exposed afterward, it won't affect us either.
"Transfer all the funds. We're closing the net early," Ivy instructed.
She couldn't afford to waste more time. Damn it. This was all Noelle's fault. Why hadn't she just died in the car crash years ago?
…
After Ivy left, Mia picked up her phone and texted the group chat to share what had just happened.
Noelle replied, "Looks like she's really possessive of your money."
Mia agreed. "Exactly. She keeps trying to persuade me to invest again. Why would I even fall for it a second time?"
Looking at her phone, Noelle sighed. This was all coming to an end soon. The investigation into PZ Group was steadily progressing behind the scenes.
Years ago, PZ Group had pulled similar scams abroad, but they'd managed to escape consequences by bribing some key officials.
This time, it was a transnational operation. There were foreigners waiting to take PZ Group down, too, so everything had been going according to plan so far.
Just then, Cedric entered the bedroom and saw Noelle sitting on the couch. He came up and wrapped his arms around her. "What are you texting about?"
Then, she looked up at him. "Any updates on the investigation at the mental hospital?"
Cedric nodded. "Without your guess, it would've taken longer to search that place. But since you said Xenia might be hidden there, our men found her with her picture."
Noelle pressed, "She's there? Did she willingly get locked up in the mental hospital?"
How had Ivy pulled that off and sent her in?
"I heard Xenia's mental state has deteriorated. She's currently receiving treatment."
Noelle was stunned. "Are you saying… Xenia went insane?"
