No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 1207

The moment Noelle saw Ivy appear, the smile on her face noticeably faded. Still, she kept her tone light. "Yeah. Must be a real disappointment for you, huh?"

"Ms. Liddell, how could you say that? I'm thrilled," Ivy replied, putting on a pitiful expression.

However, the people around them remained stone-faced—no one spoke up for her. The air turned awkward fast, and she clearly felt it.

Grace didn't hold back. "There's no audience for your performance here. You broke up a family back then, and just because it's been years doesn't mean what you did magically disappeared."

Ivy's face twisted. "Young woman, who are you to speak to me that way? Do you have no manners?"

Noelle stepped in front of Grace. "She's Mia's best friend. If anyone understands how Mia really feels about you, it's her. So yeah, her words carry weight."

"That's not true. Mia and I actually get along just fine," Ivy insisted.

Noelle let out a sharp laugh. "Sure. Keep telling yourself that. If Mia's father hadn't grown a conscience before he died, you would've walked away with quite a bit of the estate."

Ivy clenched her jaw. "Ms. Liddell, I'm not here to fight with you. I know I made mistakes back then. But I have no ill will toward Mia. I genuinely hope she recovers."

Noelle stared at her. "Well, she's awake now, and she's doing just fine."

She turned away, not sparing Ivy another glance. Naturally, she completely missed the look on Eason's face beside her.

She figured that if Ivy was that kind of person, then the son she raised probably wasn't much better either. Regardless, the existence of Ivy and Eason posed a huge threat to Mia.

Before long, Carl emerged with the doctors. Noelle immediately shot up. "How is she?"

Carl's tone was calm and composed. "She's out of the danger zone. From here on, it's just a matter of recovery. As for her leg, I've spoken to Dr. Bowell. A corrective surgery is possible."

Carl completely ignored everyone else and left directly.

Noelle stood in front of the glass window, looking at Mia lying inside. She was still on a ventilator but turned her head to look at the people standing outside and raised her hand, giving them a thumbs-up.

Noelle burst into laughter, "Looks like she's back with us."

Grace laughed through the tears welling in her eyes. "Thank goodness."

Eugene sat nearby in a wheelchair. When he saw Mia awake, his eyes reddened, filled with emotion.

After Noelle collected herself, she looked around and noticed that Ivy was nowhere to be seen. However, Eason was still there, standing at a distance and not daring to come closer.

Where the hell was Ivy?
