Seeing the flicker of emotion on Sean's face, Noelle smirked coldly. "You really think I came here empty-handed, just hoping you'd hand me the answer?"
Sean's face turned serious. "What did you find out?"
"Oh, plenty. I just needed to confirm a few pieces. So, thank you for giving me exactly what I needed."
She stood and slid the photo across the table. "Keep it. A little souvenir for you."
Sean jumped to his feet. "Wait—don't go. What exactly did you find out?"
However, Noelle didn't even turn around. She walked out with Jeremy while the guards came to escort Sean away.
Once they got in the car, Noelle exhaled and gave a small laugh. "So? How was my performance?"
"Not bad at all. It pretty much confirms that Ivy is probably Xenia's aunt. But I have one question—where is Xenia's biological mother?" Jeremy asked thoughtfully.
Noelle glanced in the rearview mirror. "We'll see who goes to visit Sean. If someone's really worried about their identity being exposed, they're probably having me watched, so that person will either visit Sean soon or make their move."
It was only after the other party made their move that Noelle was able to identify who had been hiding behind the scenes all along. Perhaps there was someone else besides Ivy… Someone like Xenia's biological mother.
Jeremy drove while speaking. "We should have news soon enough."
Noelle's mood improved slightly. "Have the Cantrells been giving you any trouble?"
"They showed up at the law firm with their people this morning to cause a scene, but that kind of petty intimidation doesn't faze me. The Cantrells are just paper tigers, and they fall apart the moment you push back."
Jeremy clearly didn't consider the Cantrells a serious threat. Noelle frowned. "So now we just have to wait."
She headed straight back to the hospital, where Eugene hadn't moved from his post outside the ICU. One look at him, and she could tell he wasn't doing well either.
She turned to Alfred. "How's Eugene holding up?"
