No matter how Noelle thought about it, she still felt uncomfortable.
If it had been anyone else today, she would have felt touched. After all, her mom had once lifted her out of a wrecked car to save her life, and that was how she'd survived back then.
Maybe it was Ivy's face that made it impossible for Noelle to feel moved.
Ivy had been trying to protect Eason. Perhaps any mother would have made the same choice in a moment like that.
Still, that face made Noelle rather wary than comforted.
As she lay on the single bed, she couldn't help but think about Cedric's kiss earlier. Her face flushed instantly.
She realized that perhaps she did like being that close to him.
She rolled around on the bed, but this clearly wasn't helping. She had to do something to distract herself.
After getting up, Noelle walked to the door and overheard voices outside discussing work.
She spotted Cedric sitting in a chair with a sharp and serious expression. The air he gave off was completely different from the one shown when he'd been with her.
Right now, he looked powerful and commanding.
Seeing how attractive he was, she couldn't help but secretly pull out her phone to snap a picture of this version of him. But she forgot to switch on silent mode, and the camera's crisp shutter echoed across the room.
Cedric frowned at the sound. His eyes swept past the group of executives before he coldly asked, "Whose phone was that?"
The executives paled in fright as they frantically checked their phones, terrified it had been theirs. But deep down, they were confused. Even if they forgot to mute their phones, why would it make a camera shutter sound?
She refused to stay in the lounge any longer. The cramped space still lingered with his scent, and it was messing with her head.
And after causing such an awkward scene, she was more than ready to escape.
Cedric turned to Robin and ordered, "Take her out for a walk."
Robin nearly sighed in relief. Right now, he wanted nothing more than to get out of the meeting, lest he receive a scolding.
Noelle gave the others an apologetic smile before making her escape from the office.
As they walked out, she turned to Robin and asked, "Is he always that serious when he works?"
Robin hesitated before saying, "Mr. Greene is more serious during work hours, but he's pretty easygoing outside of that."
