Rachel had known since childhood that her grandparents favored boys over girls and had always been biased toward Ashton.
However, she didn't expect them to show it so blatantly, especially right in front of her friend. It was like they didn't even see her as a real person.
When Noelle saw the tears in Rachel's eyes, her mood instantly sank.
Just then, Cedric walked over and stopped beside Noelle. "You're still out here? Why didn't you head inside yet?"
He'd already finished his call, but she was still outside.
Noelle glanced at Cedric, then turned to Rachel. "I'll be around the next couple of days. Let's catch up soon."
Rachel forced a smile. "Yeah… Enjoy your dinner. I won't keep you."
"Hold it right there. Who said you could leave?" Sara's gaze locked onto Cedric now.
She continued, "Hey, handsome. If you're dating this woman, you better watch yourself. She just tried to get my son's number, and when he rejected her, she threw a tantrum."
Rachel was stunned. "Sara! What are you talking about?"
"I'm not making anything up."
"Exactly. My mom's telling the truth," Ashton added. The moment he saw Cedric's outfit, he knew the guy had money. He instantly became bitter.
Women only cared about wealth—wasn't that always the case?
"Your girlfriend's cheating on you," Ashton declared.
Cedric looked down at him, expression unreadable. "I don't think my girlfriend's standards are that low. There's no way she'd be interested in you."
That hit Ashton where it hurt. "What's that supposed to mean? I've got a lot going for me—why wouldn't she?"
