No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 1096

The street was bustling with activity, with many cars parked along the roadside. However, that uncomfortable feeling from earlier had disappeared, and everything seemed so peaceful and serene.

Cedric followed Noelle's gaze. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, probably just my imagination." Noelle shook her head and looked up at Cedric with a smile. She thought that maybe she didn't need to be so cautious anymore.

Later, the two of them went to have dinner together. They found a restaurant she used to frequent often, and the familiar flavors tasted just as authentic as she remembered.

"Noelle Liddell?" Hearing someone call her name, Noelle turned around to see a familiar face—it was actually Rachel, her class president.

Noelle was surprised and asked, "Rachel, what a coincidence! You're back, too?"

"Yeah, I came home for my grandma's birthday celebration," Rachel replied with a smile. It was a bit unexpected running into Noelle—after all, once everyone went off to college, they each got busy with their own lives.

As for Noelle, she had become something of a public figure since leaving for studies. Most people only kept up with her through the news.

Noelle smiled and said, "It's been quite a while since we've seen each other."

"I know! I was actually thinking of reaching out after finals, but I figured you must be pretty busy lately, so I didn't want to bother you."

Her tone was tactful. She'd read online about Noelle being involved in a lawsuit concerning the death of her parents. Who would've thought they were actually murdered—and by the former valedictorian, Laura's mother?

Stuff like that felt so distant from ordinary people. However, Noelle had once been their classmate, and they had all once given her the cold shoulder.

Noelle understood the meaning behind Rachel's words and answered openly, "Yes, I was pretty busy before, but now that the lawsuit is over, I came back to visit my parents' graves."

Rachel said sincerely, "Congratulations! You can finally start a new life. Xenia finally got what she deserved. Honestly, if you hadn't been so smart, you wouldn't have survived everything she put you through."

Rachel had heard that Xenia died during childbirth. Still, she remembered what Noelle's life used to be like, and no matter what people online said, she supported Noelle.
