Cedric froze at this. He had taught her the 12-hit combo? Impossible. He had no memory of that.
He stared at Noelle. "Noelle, when did I ever teach you the combo?"
He genuinely couldn't remember.
Noelle's cheeks were flushed, and she clearly had no idea what she was saying anymore. She leaned over and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before sitting up shyly.
Cedric felt the soft touch on his cheek and gently carried her over to the couch. He was kneeling beside the couch. "Do you want some water?"
Noelle shook her head, then peeked at him.
"What are you looking at me like that for?" Cedric's voice was gentle.
He had to admit that drunk Noelle was adorable, with her words all jumbled and her silly expressions. She huffed. "I'm looking at you so you don't run off."
"I won't leave. And I definitely won't run." Cedric touched her cheek. It was warm, not from a fever, just the flush of drinking.
Noelle quickly shook her head. "No, you will leave. You won't stay by my side if I stay this dumb and keep getting tricked by the Liddell family.."
In her previous life, he had given her so much money, but she had still chosen to go back to the Liddell family for revenge. She never thought of leaving them behind for a new life.
Looking back, she had been completely blinded. She just couldn't accept it.
When Cedric saw the sorrow on her face, he gently touched her cheek. "I'll never leave you."
Noelle's eyes welled up with tears. Cedric reached out to wipe them. "When have I ever left you?"
He had never been able to truly turn his back on her.
Noelle wrapped her arms around him. "It's not your fault. I was just too stupid. But would you avenge me if I died?"
The thought suddenly struck her. If, in her past life, Cedric had found out she died in the asylum, would he have avenged her?
