No Escape from Love novel Chapter 46

Both the dean and the principal, Mr. Augustine Augustine, were present.

Mr. Augustine appeared to be humble and friendly, while Mr. Herbs had a dark expression on his face.

I vaguely recalled that when the university was selecting outstanding students, it had come down to two candidates. The first was me, while the second was Mr. Herbs' daughter.

I was chosen in the end, but after that, Mr. Herbs seemed to hold a grudge against me.

After exchanging greetings, Mr. Augustine smiled and gestured for me to sit down. "Have a seat."

I nodded and sat down.

Mr. Augustine maintained his smile and said, "Serena, here's the thing. You've probably already seen what's happening too. We called you here today because we wanted to listen to your side of things."

He seemed to be quite reasonable, so I slowly said, "I'm so sorry for causing so much trouble for the university. Regarding Julian's incident, it didn't happen like the posts online are claiming."

Mr. Augustine nodded slightly. "Then please tell us the real story."

I recounted what happened, and Mr. Augustine frowned. "Julian has always seemed like such a reasonable young man. How could he do something like this?"

I spread my hands in exasperation. "I don't know either. I was so shocked when it happened."

Mr. Augustine continued, "In that case, do you have any idea who edited and posted the video?"

I slowly shook my head. "I don't. It took less than two hours from the time the incident happened to the video being posted. I don't know who could act so quickly."

Could it be Elena? I had a faint suspicion in my mind.

Mr. Herbs waved dismissively. "Figure it out yourself. If you can't clear your name, then I'm afraid there's nothing we can do for you."

"Mr. Herbs!" A frantic voice could be heard outside. I turned around to see Lila there.

Lila hurried over and stood in front of me, "Mr. Herbs, you can't treat Serena like this. Serena is about to graduate. Are you trying to ruin her future?"

Lila was so anxious that she was about to burst into tears, but Mr. Herbs didn't seem to care. "What else can I do? I'm the dean, and I have to think about the university's reputation. I can't let our reputation be tarnished for the sake of one person."

I glanced sideways at Mr. Augustine. Ever since Mr. Herbs started giving me a hard time, he seemed to shrink into the background. It seemed like he wasn't going to intervene anymore.

Lila questioned coldly, "The university's reputation? This isn't the only scandal the university has faced. Haven't all the scandals before this been forgotten over time? Has the university ever had trouble recruiting new students because of them?"
