No Escape from Love novel Chapter 45

"Are you related to the patient?" The medical staff looked at me.

I shook my head. "I'm just an acquaintance. If you need anything, you can contact his father."

In the ambulance, Julian suddenly sat up emotionally. "Serena, you lied to me. You actually lied to me."

"Is the patient going to be okay?" I ignored Julian.

The medical staff shook her head. "It doesn't look too serious. He's just lost a lot of blood and will likely need a blood transfusion. If you're his family member, then please come with us to the hospital."

I denied it again, "I'm not. Please contact his family. I have other things to attend to."

Without paying any attention to Julian's shouts, I turned around and headed back to campus. On the way, I kept thinking about what Julian said—Alex was targeting the Blakes because of me.

What an absurd claim. Only Julian would say something like that.

I didn't notice the way the other students were pointing at me and whispering as I passed. It wasn't until I reached the field where there were a lot of students that their discussions got too loud for me to ignore.

"So, that's Serena? What a fake."

"Exactly. How heartless can a person be? Even if it's a stranger, surely, you can't just leave someone to die like that?"

"She's just relying on her status as a heiress. People like her really know how to put on an act."

I was utterly confused and had no idea what they were talking about.

At that moment, my phone rang. It was Lila asking me to hurry back to the dormitory. When I arrived, I found Lila anxiously pacing around the room.

The caller ID displayed Justin Herbs.

"It's the dean," I said to Lila after accepting the call.

"What did he say?" Lila asked in a panic.

I let out a long sigh. "He told me to come to the office. It seems like this has already reached his ears. He might even be facing some external pressure."

Lila grew even more anxious. "What should we do? Mr. Herbs always acts like he's the king of the world. Serena, this might not be easy to resolve."

I stood up and said, "I'm innocent. I'll go to the office first. After that, I'll figure out how to prove my innocence."
