No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 406

Ann clenched her fists, her bloodshot eyes filled with a potent mix of jealousy and hatred.

Once she and York were truly together, she would deal with that bitch Claudia, and that old hag Wendy.

On the day of her birthday, Ann dropped her son off at school and went straight to her brother's apartment.

She said, "today's my birthday. I need you to lend me a few thousand dollars to tide me over."

Her sister-in-law rolled her eyes. "After how you've dragged us down, where would we get that kind of money?"

Ann straightened her back, her tone demanding. "York already promised me," she said proudly. "He told me he's giving me a gift I'll never forget for my birthday. If you won't even lend me a few thousand now, don't come asking me for help when I'm with him."

Her brother and sister-in-law exchanged a look.

Her brother turned to his mother, Laurel. "Mom, is that true?"

Laurel nodded excitedly. "Mr. Ferguson divorced his wife for your sister's sake! He was so good to her, right in front of his ex-wife. It looks like he's planning to go public with their relationship."

At this, the sister-in-law's eyes lit up. "Did Mr. Ferguson say what the gift is? Could it be a mansion? A sports car?"

"The Fergusons are the number one family in Capital City," her brother mused. "A man like Mr. Ferguson would probably give her a check for millions, at least."

The couple grew more and more excited.

"Think bigger," Ann said. "What if York proposes to me?"

The three of them burst out laughing.

Well, since he was being so direct, she would be sure to satisfy him tonight.

Ann sat down next to him, her voice a mix of flirtation and mock complaint. "You've been ignoring me all this time, and you didn't even get me a cake for my birthday. If you don't have a gift for me either, then you're not allowed to touch me tonight."

York glanced at her, a slight frown on his face.

He stood up, dodging her wandering hand. "I've waited so long for this day. Of course I prepared a special gift for you."

Ann couldn't contain her excitement. She coquettishly slipped off her jacket, deliberately revealing the curves she'd paid for.

"York," she purred, "I have a gift for you, too."

As she walked toward him, shedding her clothes, York watched her with an unreadable expression and calmly placed a pen-shaped voice recorder on the coffee table.
