No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 382

"And you can shut your mouth."

York clamped a hand over Claudia's mouth, lifted her up by the waist, and carried her into the kitchen.

After setting her down, he shut the door, trapping her inside.

Claudia tried to open the door from the inside, but York held the handle firmly from the outside.

She pounded on the door. "York, you've already taken ninety-nine steps for Ann! You're just one step away from your happy ending. Believe me, if you just agree to the divorce, I'll do everything in my power to cure her. I'll even cooperate with the hypnosis sessions. We can do as many as you want. I'll even give you a discount—hell, I'll do it for free!"

The door swung open with a crash. They stared at each other.

York enunciated each word with a chilling calm. "If you spout any more nonsense, I might just strangle you."

Claudia quickly covered her mouth with the apron she was holding.

After watching him leave, she let out a long sigh. If Ann's insomnia was truly that severe, she didn't believe for a second that York wouldn't be worried about her. As long as he cared for Ann, he would eventually give in and agree to the divorce.

That afternoon, Claudia left Grant Manor early and went to the seafood market to buy some fresh lobster before heading to her parents' house.

A neighbor told her that her parents were out for a walk in the community park, so Claudia dropped off the groceries and went to find them.

From a distance, she saw them chatting with a group of other seniors, most of whom had their grandchildren with them.

Claudia smiled and was about to approach when she heard a woman holding her granddaughter ask her parents, "I heard the Watkins' daughter is a doctor. How old is she? Is she married?"

A white sports car slowed to a stop beside her. Peter had to call her name several times before she heard him.

He got out of the car and saw the redness in her eyes. "Did you and York fight again?" he asked.

Claudia shook her head, tears of grievance and sorrow welling up in her eyes, though she stubbornly refused to let them fall.

On the sidewalk, Peter patted his shoulder, offering her a place to lean. Claudia gently rested her head against him, and the tears finally broke free.

"Peter," she sobbed, "I went to see my parents today. People were asking them if their daughter was married, if she had kids..."

"I saw my mom hiding in a corner, crying," she continued, her voice choked with emotion. "It hurt so much to see that."
