The sight of Rock made York lose his appetite instantly. Rock placed the roast duck on the table and casually sat down.

Seeing York's cold expression, Rock explained, "An apology needs to be sincere. Words alone aren't enough. I thought you could use something to build up your strength. You can have both duck legs."

York put a hand on Claudia's shoulder. "I'm not hungry. Help me back to bed."

Claudia helped him lie down. "Then Master Sayer and I will eat first. You can have some later when you're hungry."

York was speechless.

Back at the table, Rock handed one of the duck legs to Claudia. "Well, if he's not eating, that's one for each of us."

Claudia put some other food on Rock's plate. "Try some of the Ferguson family chefs' cooking."

From the bed, York watched them expressionlessly, his face growing darker by the second. Ever since he had known Claudia, she had always been clingy at mealtimes, insisting he try anything she found delicious, especially when he wasn't feeling well.

But now, while he was injured in the hospital, she treated him with such indifference.

York closed his eyes in pain.

After lunch, Claudia cleaned up. Rock, noticing the exhaustion in her eyes, said, "It's too noisy here. Why don't you go rest in your office? I'll keep an eye on him for you."

Seeing York lying still on the bed with his eyes closed, Claudia agreed and left the room. Once outside, she felt uneasy leaving the two men alone, so she called Mark and told him to return to the hospital as soon as possible.

Mark hastily ended the call. "Miss James," he said to Ann, "the Ferguson Group is tight on funds right now, and Mr. Ferguson is in the hospital. Please be patient. We can discuss this after he's discharged."

Seeing her endless weeping, Mark finally gave in. "Ten thousand. I only have ten thousand."

Ann would take it. She had no intention of paying it back anyway.

Just as Mark transferred the money to Ann, his wife and sister-in-law appeared, pushing a stroller, and caught him in the act. Before Mark could even think ‘I'm screwed,' his wife had him. His sister-in-law grabbed Ann by the hair, threw her to the ground, and started slapping her. Meanwhile, Mark scrambled to protect his face from his wife's blows.

The scene descended into chaos.

It was over an hour later when Mark finally arrived at York's hospital room. Rock saw him enter and took his leave.

Once the door was closed, York asked, "How did it go?"
