No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 372

Her outfit suited her perfectly, and her subtle makeup made her look even more beautiful. The design of the suit accentuated her figure, while the high ponytail made her look youthful and chic. The blue color brought out an understated, pure elegance in her.

York's gaze deepened as he watched her. His voice was slightly hoarse when he finally spoke. "You knew I was injured and in the hospital. Where did you go?"

Claudia placed the flowers down and walked to his bedside. With a dead-serious expression, she said, "York, let's get a divorce. It's for the best—for you, for me, for everyone."

They stared at each other for what felt like a full minute.

Suddenly, York threw back the covers and got out of bed. His eyes were bloodshot as he trapped her in a tight embrace. "Can't you see I'm hurt?"

Unable to break free, Claudia let him hold her. Her voice was light and detached. "Everyone gets hurt. As long as you're not dying, it's not a big deal."

"Let's get a divorce," she continued. "Maybe we can even be friends someday."

York understood the meaning behind her words. A sudden panic seized him, and his arms tightened around her unconsciously. With red-rimmed eyes, he said, word by word, "You want a divorce? Over my dead body."

Sensing he was losing control, Claudia tried to de-escalate. "Let's talk calmly. Just let me go first."

York stubbornly held her tighter, burying his face in the crook of her neck. His muffled voice was laced with a sense of grievance. "Let me hold you for a minute," he pleaded.

Just as Claudia was trying to figure out how to get him to release her, a knock came at the door. Mark, York's parents, and two nurses entered.

The group stopped awkwardly in their tracks, taking in the intimate scene before them.

Mark was completely bewildered. Wendy, too, hadn't expected to see them like this. Even Sewell was momentarily stunned.

He whispered to Wendy, "Maybe their relationship isn't as bad as we thought."

Wendy pulled Sewell out of the room.

Unsure if he was doing the right thing, Mark spoke up. "Ma'am, it was a dangerous situation. If it weren't for Mr. Ferguson's quick reflexes, he would have been sent flying. He probably has internal injuries."

Claudia shot Mark a warning glance. "But he wasn't sent flying, was he?"

Mark secretly glanced at York, who was lying in bed with his eyes closed, his expression so grim he looked like he was about to draw his last breath.

After the doctors left, Mark retreated to the doorway.

Claudia stood by the bed, watching York for a moment. He lay ramrod straight, his chest rising and falling noticeably with his suppressed anger.

"York," she said, "you're not badly hurt. How about I have Master Sayer come and apologize, and we can just put this behind us?"

York's eyes snapped open, and he stared intently at her. "Claudia, whose side are you on right now?"
