No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 302

As if struck by a sudden thought, York quickly pulled out his phone and opened the calendar. His expression shifted as he stared at the screen, and his gaze returned to the closed bathroom door. He clutched his phone, his excitement palpable, his breathing quickening. An irrepressible smile spread across his face, his eyes softening with a gentle warmth.

Just then, his phone rang.

He knocked on the bathroom door. "Claudia, I have to take this call. Don't stay in there too long."

There was no response.

Worried, he knocked again. "Claudia?"

Claudia closed her eyes, forcing herself to take deep, steadying breaths. She did her best to compose herself before opening the door.

York's complex gaze settled on her pale face. He guided her to the bed, pulled back the covers, and helped her lie down. He gently brushed a stray strand of hair from her forehead. "I'm going to the study to take a call. If you feel sick, just call out for me."

His movements were careful, his eyes tender. "Keep the covers on. Don't get cold."

Looking at him, Claudia felt a fresh wave of panic rise in her chest. She gave a perfunctory nod and turned on her side. York's gaze lingered on her noticeably fuller curves, the tenderness in his eyes deepening.

The phone rang again, and he quietly left the bedroom.

Claudia closed her eyes, exhausted. She wanted to think, to process everything, but her eyelids were too heavy to lift.

York entered the study but left the door ajar. The call was from Mark. "Mr. Ferguson, Miss James is in trouble."

Still shaken, Claudia clutched the blanket to her chest and glared at him. "What are you doing in my bed?"

Seeing that her color was much better than the night before, York swung his legs over the side of the bed and picked up the comforter that had fallen to the floor. Standing beside the bed, he said, "You didn't react this strongly the first time we were together."

He sat down on the edge of the bed and draped the comforter over her. Looking her in the eye, he added, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder. If I can't sleep with you, can't I at least hold you while you sleep?"

Claudia sensed a hidden meaning in his words but didn't have time to dwell on it. At 8:30 a.m., she arrived at the hospital as scheduled. She locked herself in her office bathroom and took out the pregnancy test she had bought from a pharmacy on the way.

The two red lines appeared almost instantly. Claudia sank to the floor beside the toilet, utterly stunned. He had planned this. She was pregnant.
