No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 294

Old Mr. Grant probably feared she was getting too close to Cyrus.

Cyrus raised his hand, offering Claudia a cross bracelet. "For you."

As she reached for it, York stopped her with a look. "Mr. Cyrus," York said, "that was a gift from Grandfather."

Claudia immediately understood the bracelet's significance. "Mr. Cyrus, a cross is meant to bring good luck. You should keep it."

But Cyrus took her hand and placed the bracelet in her palm.

After he left, Wendy looked at the bracelet in Claudia's hand, a conflicted expression on her face, but she said nothing about it.

Instead, she changed the subject. "How did your talk go in there?" she asked York.

"Cyrus came to retrieve some of his mother's belongings," York replied. "He has no intention of reconciling with Grandfather."

Claudia had no interest in their conversation. "Mom, I have work tomorrow. I'm going to head home."

York grabbed her wrist. "Wait. I'll go with you."

Sewell strode over, his face a thunderous mask. "Both of you will come back to Ferguson Mansion right now!"

About ten minutes later, they were in the car. York draped a thin blanket over Claudia's lap, then took the cross bracelet from her hand.

"This bracelet was blessed by three generations of abbots at the old monastery," he told her. "Father Benedict gave it to my grandfather just before he passed. Grandfather wore it for over thirteen years and never took it off. Someone once offered a nine-figure sum for it, but he refused to sell. The fact that he gave it to Cyrus, and Cyrus gave it to you… you should take good care of it."

Claudia looked at him, her eyes filled with confusion.

Claudia met his eyes. "Save your protection for Ann. I don't need it."

He tightened his grip on her wrist. "I've deleted all of Ann's contact information. I've apologized. Can't you just drop this attitude?"

They stared at each other before she yanked her hand away.

Tonight, at the Vance family dinner, the gossip from the other guests had been vile. Even she had winced hearing it; she could only imagine how Sewell felt.

Cyrus had promised to protect her and her family. She was curious to see which family—the Fergusons, the Grants, or the Vances—held more power. She wanted to test Cyrus's influence in the eyes of the Vances and Fergusons, to see if he truly had the power to back her up and help her get a divorce.

Just as she and York stepped into the living room, a teacup came flying straight at her head.
