No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 293

As Claudia pushed Cyrus toward the crowd, a wave of whispers rippled through the room:

"Didn't Mr. Ferguson just say his wife was too busy with work to come?"

"Yes, so how is she here now? And with another man, no less?"

"Did you see her dress? It's this season's couture piece from Vr Haute Couture. Exactly what you'd expect from the young mistress of the city's most powerful family."

"Don't be so sure. The man in the wheelchair could have bought it for her."

"Haven't you heard? Mr. Ferguson has a mistress and an illegitimate son. He's been cheating for a while."

"Looks like Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson are each playing their own games. This is going to be interesting…"

The murmurs grew louder and more malicious, and the expressions on the faces of York and his parents turned increasingly grim.

The Vances also had varied reactions upon seeing Cyrus. Some rushed forward to greet him excitedly, some gritted their teeth in anger, and others simply stared in shock.

Wendy leaned in and whispered to York, "Didn't you say Claudia couldn't make it?"

Sewell's face was ashen with rage. "York, what in the world is going on?"

York's deep eyes were fixed on Claudia. Unfazed, he explained calmly, "Dad, Mom, Claudia is Mr. Cyrus's attending physician. She likely came here with him after finishing his treatment to meet up with us."

At York's explanation, Sewell and the other elders visibly relaxed.

York’s quick thinking skillfully eased the tense, gossip-filled atmosphere.

Claudia nodded obediently. When she had first started treating Cyrus, his temper had indeed been terrifying. But thanks to her and Dr. Jesse's efforts, his condition had stabilized, and he was now cooperating well with his therapy.

They had barely exchanged a few words when York emerged from the inner room, pushing Cyrus's wheelchair.

Claudia walked up to them. "Mr. Cyrus, are you leaving already?"

He nodded. "I'll see you back," she offered.

York, still holding the wheelchair, shot her a sharp look, his brow furrowed.

Just then, the Grant family's butler entered with several bodyguards. "Miss Watkins, we can take it from here."

Seeing the butler approach, Claudia straightened up and stepped back. Old Mr. Grant had clearly been displeased when she stayed over at Grant Manor the other night. He must have heard the rumors about her and York's impending divorce.
