No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 267

When Rock opened the door and saw York, he jumped back in shock. "What are you doing here?"

York entered with a thunderous expression.

"What are you doing in my apartment in the middle of the night?" Rock demanded, trying to block his path.

"I'm here to treat your illness," York said coldly.

Rock quickly backed away. "Don't you dare try to scare me. Frightening a child is a serious matter, and I'll hold you responsible."

Ignoring him, York walked straight into the bedroom. He arranged the aromatherapy diffusers in a circle around the bed and then lit two white candles on the nightstand. Next, he went to the living room and flipped the main circuit breaker, plunging the apartment into darkness, save for the flickering candlelight in the bedroom.

Rock pointed at the circle of diffusers and the two candles, practically hopping with rage. "Why didn't you just bring a couple of funeral wreaths while you were at it?"

"Go to sleep," York said, patting the edge of the bed.

Clutching the pillow Claudia had given him, Rock retreated to the bedroom doorway, staring at York in horror. Just then, the doorbell rang. Rock fumbled for his phone, turned on the flashlight, and rushed to the door.

Seeing the pitch-black apartment, Claudia asked, "Did your power go out?"

Rock clung to her arm as they felt their way inside. "Your cheap husband flipped the breaker."

When York emerged from the shadows, Claudia couldn't help but scold him. "Why would you turn off his power? Go turn it back on."

York pried Rock's hand off Claudia's arm and went to flip the breaker. Light flooded the apartment, and Claudia finally went inside.

"I've already lit the diffusers for him," York said, blocking her path. "You have work tomorrow. Go back and get some rest."

Claudia felt a headache coming on. She had a consultation the next morning and had to visit Grant Manor in the evening. These two were exhausting.

Seizing the opportunity, Rock said, "Claudia, I think this apartment is too close to the eighteenth level of 'hell.' The vibes are all wrong. I haven't been sleeping well. I feel like I'm about to croak."

Before Claudia could reply, York cut in, "The people on the thirteenth floor are fine. What are you, on the eleventh, so afraid of?"

Rock tugged on Claudia's arm. "Claudia, maybe I could just stay at your place tonight."

York pushed him away and pulled Claudia to his side. "I don't agree."

"You're the one who made his room uninhabitable," Claudia said to York. "What's the harm in letting him stay for one night?"

"Exactly," Rock chimed in, hugging his pillow and shooting York a triumphant look. "It's not like I'm sleeping in your bed. What's your problem?"
