No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 255

Before anyone could react, York slipped the packet into his own pocket.

Claudia was completely dumbfounded.vAll that effort tonight, for this?

Ann was even more terrified, her face pale as she trembled, unsure of what to do.

Darleen pointed a finger at Ann and started yelling, "You bitch! What were you trying to put in my brother's drink?"

Publicly exposed and insulted by Darleen, Ann shot a pleading look at Claudia.

Claudia quickly stood up to placate Darleen. "Darleen, you saw wrong. That was mine, I dropped it."

All of York's friends were here. No matter what, Claudia had to maintain Ann's good-girl image. York's perception of Ann absolutely could not be shattered.

Darleen was certain she hadn't seen wrong. "Claudia, why are you covering for her?" she demanded. "I clearly saw her trying to put something in my brother's drink. Just ask him to show us what he picked up, and we'll know."

Peter was the first to react, pulling Darleen aside and whispering, "Ann is the mother of your brother's son, for god's sake. Give your brother some face."

Seeing that Peter had finally managed to calm Darleen down, Claudia breathed a silent sigh of relief.

Then she turned and saw Ann standing there, frozen, and a wave of exhaustion washed over her.

Claudia walked over and prompted her, "Didn't you say you weren't feeling well?"

Reminded, Ann nodded quickly. She glanced cautiously at York and ventured, "York, I'm not feeling well. Could you take me home?"

Asking another woman's husband to take her home right in front of his wife—the motive was crystal clear to everyone.

Yet, York nodded. He gave Claudia a look and said to Ann, "Let's go. I'll take you home."

Fine. Rock had always been shameless about taking things from others.

Worried that Claudia might be upset, Peter decided to end the party early. He, Darleen, Claudia, and Rock all went out for a late-night snack.

Meanwhile, on a street near The Imperial Club, a black Bentley slowly pulled over to a temporary parking spot.

In the back seat, Ann was so nervous she was breaking out in a cold sweat.

Without waiting for York to speak, she started explaining, "York, I'm sorry. I should have told you about this sooner."

Seeing his dark, silent expression, Ann took out her phone and opened her chat with Claudia.

"Your wife sent me these messages," Ann explained defensively. "She gave me that packet of powder, too. She threatened me, told me to put it in your drink. She said if I didn't listen, she'd have your grandfather throw me on some remote island to fend for myself!"
