No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 244

Knowing she couldn't win, Claudia decided to shut up.

A moment later, Rock Sayer slid the mouse over to her. "There are a ton of encrypted files. Which one are you looking for?"

Claudia leaned in, her eyes immediately catching the initials of Ann's name. "Help me decrypt this one."

Rock Sayer cracked the password in minutes. Claudia grabbed the mouse and quickly scrolled through the document.

It turned out York had been secretly investigating Ann all along.

The file contained a complete record of Ann's life during her six years in Caledon.

The further Claudia read, the heavier her heart became. She never imagined Ann's life had been so miserable and pitiful.

No wonder York was so protective, so loving toward her.

Claudia plugged in a flash drive and copied the file.

Unwilling to give up, she continued searching through York's computer.

The Ferguson family's business spanned the globe, making them the top powerhouse in Capital City.

She refused to believe that all their dealings were completely clean.

If she could find some leverage on York in this computer, she was determined to get this divorce.

But even after scrolling to the very bottom, Claudia found no suspicious files.

Just as she was about to give up, another name caught her eye.

Thorne.

He was York's half-brother—the Ferguson family's unacknowledged bastard. Claudia shot a nervous glance at the study door, then pointed at the screen. "Six, crack this password too."

Rock Sayer gave it a try and found the password had been specially processed.

His interest was piqued. "What's hidden in here that needs such complex encryption?"

His slender fingers flew across the keyboard. "Claudia, your bargain-bin husband has a few tricks up his sleeve."

Claudia wasn't focused on that.

Her eyes were glued to the study door. "Just hurry up."

She pressed a hand to her chest, trying to calm her racing heart, and glanced at the phone on the desk.

Seeing it was a call from York, she let out a long sigh of relief.

It seemed he wouldn't be back anytime soon.

Claudia told Rock Sayer to restore the passwords and shut down the computer while she hurried out to take the call.

In the hospital corridor, York ended the call with Claudia and entered the patient room.

After more than an hour of fussing, the child was finally asleep in the hospital bed.

When Ann saw York enter, she spoke gratefully, "Thank you so much for tonight. I don't know what I would've done without you."

But York's scrutinizing gaze made her skin crawl.

She quickly tried to usher him out. "I'll be fine here. Your wife is waiting for you at home. You should go back and get some rest."

York stood at the foot of the bed, his hands tucked into the pockets of his suit trousers.

He asked Ann, "Making my wife his godmother, moving into the apartment upstairs from me... was that your idea?"
