No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 233

Claudia sat down, her demeanor perfectly composed.

York remained standing, his face grim, his complex gaze fixed on Claudia.

Ann, seated, furtively watched York's reaction. Seeing that he wasn't sitting down, she tentatively stood up. "Mrs. Ferguson, maybe I should go."

Ann made a show of leaving.

Claudia rose to stop her.

York grabbed Claudia's wrist.

He shot a look at Ann, picked up the promotion gift he'd brought for Claudia, and pulled Claudia out of the restaurant.

Ann stood frozen, staring at the untouched dinner for two on the table, biting her lip in humiliation.

That bitch, Claudia.

It was supposed to be their date, and she deliberately brought her along. She wasn't trying to be nice; she just wanted to embarrass her and watch her make a fool of herself.

Outside the restaurant, York dragged Claudia toward a luxury car parked nearby.

He walked with long strides, his grip on her wrist so tight she couldn't break free, forced to jog to keep up.

They got into the car, one after the other.

The doors locked. York's lips were pressed into a thin line, a flicker of anger in his eyes as he looked at Claudia.

Claudia cleared her throat. "Are we going to argue here, or at home?"

Their marriage was already rotten to the core. To her, an argument was nothing.

York clenched his jaw and started the car.

They drove back to their apartment complex in complete silence.

Claudia pulled her arm free. "In your eyes, I'm wrong whether I'm right or wrong. How would I know what I need to explain?" she retorted nonchalantly.

A vein throbbed on York's forehead. "Claudia, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Don't play dumb."

"I really don't," she corrected him earnestly. "Why don't you give me a hint?"

They stared at each other from inches away, and York looked like he might suffocate from rage.

After a long moment, Claudia asked, "Is this about me helping Master Sayer with his room layout?"

York, thrown off track, snapped, "What is he, a vampire? He never contacts you during the day, only at night?"

Claudia sighed.

She looked down and kicked his slippers toward his feet. "York, can you not be so venomous? Master Sayer is my patient, and he'll be our neighbor. We'll be seeing him around. Just drop it."

York put on his slippers, took the bag from her shoulder, and led her into the bedroom, pushing her down to sit on the edge of the bed.
