No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 232

Ann explained calmly, "York, don't get the wrong idea. Your wife was too busy at work, so she called and asked me to bring your medicine over. I just thought I'd make you some soup to go with it."

Mark shot a furtive glance at his boss, held his breath, and slipped out of the office, hugging the wall.

Ann placed the insulated container on the coffee table. "York, your wife mentioned you've been having trouble sleeping lately. I added some special herbs to the soup to help. Let me get you a bowl to try."

York remained standing by his desk, his expression cold. "Leave the medicine. Take the soup with you."

Ann's grip on the soup ladle tightened.

When she first returned to the country, York had been tolerant, even when she occasionally overstepped. But now, his patience with her was wearing thin.

It must have been because of what happened at the Grandeur Group's annual gala. She had deliberately called out to him in public, causing a misunderstanding that enraged his grandfather and put him in a difficult position.

If it weren't for that woman, Claudia, York would have surely brought her and their son into his life and taken proper care of them.

Ann walked over to York and asked tentatively, "York, did I do something wrong again?"

"I'm not hungry. You should go," York said.

Seeing the terrifyingly grim look on his face, Ann didn't dare to linger. Less than three minutes after arriving, she picked up her container and left the office.

After she was gone, York leaned forward, his hands braced on the edge of his desk. His shoulders slumped as he closed his eyes in exhaustion.

He couldn't believe Claudia would have Ann deliver his medicine.

A heavy, suffocating feeling settled in his chest. Their relationship was nothing like that of a couple married for three years.

The two women walked toward him, chatting and laughing.

York stood rooted to the spot, his brow furrowing deeper and deeper.

Before Claudia could speak, York's voice was cold. "Why are you two together?"

Claudia gestured for Ann to take a seat first.

Then she turned to York and said, "I happened to run into Miss James on my way here. As a thank you for delivering my medicine at noon, I took the liberty of inviting her to join us."

York's dark eyes bored into Claudia. "This was supposed to be a date for the two of us."

Claudia patted his back soothingly. "It's okay. You'll get used to it."
