Mr. Reynolds looked a bit embarrassed. "I really haven't been paying attention."
Yves grew anxious. "How could you miss news this huge?!"
"What news? Just tell me!" Mr. Reynolds urged.
Yves leaned in slightly, lowering his voice, though the excitement in his tone was impossible to hide. "The Joyner family from Glenhaven City really went all out this time. They've completely opened up the global trade routes for Winrich!"
Mr. Reynolds' eyes widened in sheer disbelief!
Opening the global trade routes!!
Yves looked at him, his eyes burning with intensity. "You know exactly what kind of 'golden ticket' that is, right?"
"That's not just a standard channel, that's the ultimate trump card!"
"With that, Winrich will have absolute priority in global trade. Do you realize how many domestic and international companies are going to be lining up, fighting for a chance to work with them? The profit margins and market expansion are beyond calculation."
"If we can get on board Winrich's ship, even getting the scraps would be enough to set us up for generations."
Listening to Yves, Mr. Reynolds rubbed his hands together in excitement. "Then what are we waiting for?! Let's go to Winrich!"
"Let's go, let's go." That was exactly what Yves had in mind.
But the moment they turned the corner, they bumped into Crystal and Gia.
The two women wore bizarre, twisted expressions.
Yves, however, was riding high and greeted them cheerfully. "Oh, you ladies are still here? I thought you'd left ages ago."
Crystal looked an absolute wreck in comparison.
She couldn't even muster a polite smile. Her flawless makeup only highlighted how stiff and strained her face had become.
Beside her, Gia instinctively tried to salvage some shred of dignity, forcing the corners of her mouth up, but it looked worse than if she had burst into tears.
The tight line of her lips and the slight tremble in her shoulders betrayed the turmoil inside her.
On one side stood the triumphant victors, holding the trump cards and ready to soar.
On the other side stood the defeated, plummeting into the abyss, unable to even fake a smile.
They hadn't seen each other in over a month, and she was desperate to see him.
"Then I'll head to the kitchen and make a couple of his favorite dishes."
Mrs. Naylor wanted to tell her she didn't need to cook, that the staff would handle it.
But seeing how happy Gia was at the prospect, she didn't want to ruin the moment.
Gia went into the kitchen, efficiently pulling ingredients from the fridge.
After a quick burst of activity, two dishes were ready.
But it had obviously been more than ten minutes.
Healy still hadn't arrived.
When she walked out of the kitchen, Mrs. Naylor was muttering to herself. "What is that boy doing? Didn't he say he'd be home in ten minutes? It's been thirty, and he's still not here. What's going on?"
Gia offered a sympathetic smile. "He probably hit traffic. Don't worry, Mrs. Naylor, I'll call and check on him."
