Never Mistake a Queen for a Lapdog novel Chapter 1002

Without a second of hesitation, Claire climbed in.

The black Bentley paused for barely a moment before speeding off.

It quickly disappeared into the hazy white storm.

Felix stared at the spot where the car had vanished, his frown deepening.

An inexplicable sense of discomfort twisted in his chest.

Claire was completely caught off guard running into Wilbur here.

She had only told Felix she had a ride to brush him off.

She never expected to actually bump into a friend.

He was a total lifesaver.

"What are you doing here?" she asked, genuinely curious.

"My cousin works around here," Wilbur replied. "I was dropping something off for her and just happened to spot you."

Was it really a cousin, or just another one of his flings?

Claire almost voiced the thought out loud.

Thankfully, Wilbur was focused on the road and didn't catch her skeptical expression.

Her phone buzzed. It was a text from Noreen, asking about the divorce.

"How did he suddenly agree to sign the papers?"

Claire typed back, "For his precious sweetheart, of course."

Claire had vented to Noreen about the whole ordeal the night before, so Noreen knew the context.

"What is his deal?" Noreen asked, baffled. "Didn't he finally see Madeline's true colors?"

Even a blind man wouldn't be this oblivious.

Claire sent a scoffing emoji. "He's not stupid. When Madeline's scandal leaked before, he covered that up too, didn't he?"

"I guess love really is blind. Even if Madeline is a completely toxic, irredeemable person, he doesn't care. He'll always bend his bottom line to accommodate her."

Noreen paused for a long time before replying, "Then she really is lucky."

"Tell me about it," Claire agreed.

To always be ready to document any spontaneous evidence.

Never miss a single opportunity to gather ammunition for a courtroom.

Even though Felix had re-filed for divorce, he had a track record of backing out at the last second.

So Claire had learned her lesson. She was keeping a backup plan ready.

She would proceed with the standard filing, but keep her litigation arsenal fully loaded.

She was going to divorce Felix, no matter what it took!

Right after Noreen finished chatting with Claire, Seth knocked and entered her office.

"It's lunch time. Let's go out. I booked a table at that place you've been wanting to try, Willow Brook."

Noreen didn't even look up. "No. I'm busy."

Seth was past his probationary period and had started managing parts of Noreen's schedule.

He obviously knew perfectly well whether she was busy or not.

So, hearing her rejection, he hesitated for a moment. "Is your stomach bothering you again?"
