My Mate Sent Me To Prison I Return As His Nightmare novel Chapter 14

Wyatt's POV

She was mine, and oh goddess, she was beautiful.

Her face radiated warmth, framed by long lashes and a perfectly sculptured nose that complemented her soft, plum lips—lips that begged to be kissed.

Strawberry blonde hair cascaded down her shoulders, but it was those amethyst eyes that truly captivated me.

Such a rare and unique color.

My heart thundered against my ribcage whenever she drew near.

The primal part of me strained against my control, desperate to claim her completely. My mate was perfect in every way.

Inhaling her scent once more, I felt my inner wolf settle. Her fragrance was both intoxicating and soothing.

Adira, my Adira. After years of longing and praying for a reunion, here she was finally in my arms.

She likely wouldn't remember me—we'd been mere children when we last met. I was twelve while she was only five.

Our mothers had been best friends growing up before joining different packs. I still recall the day Aunt Meryl visited with her little daughter in tow. Despite our age difference, we formed an instant connection.

Anxiety had pooled in my stomach when their departure time approached.

"Can she stay here?" I'd asked Mother hopefully. She'd simply smiled and shaken her head.

"No, my baby, but perhaps when you're older, you can visit her," she'd promised.

When I'd handed Adira back to her mother, the little girl had clutched my shirt with surprising strength, tears streaming down her face as she wailed her desire to stay with me.

Perhaps in all these years we've been apart, she had experienced too many things I knew nothing about.

I loosened my embrace, not wanting her to feel trapped.

"Adira," I said softly,

She looked up at me, those purple eyes searching mine.

"No matter what happened in the past, what matters is the future."

I continued carefully.

"I promise you that I will protect you. You’ll never be hurt anymore."
