My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 752

At times like this, Alex White needed space—time alone to sort through his thoughts. Any attempt to rush him now might only make him waver again.

So Emily Blair said nothing more. She simply nodded. “Alright. I’ll wait for you.”

When Alex left the room, he looked even paler than when he’d arrived.

His injuries weren’t as severe as Emily’s, but he still struggled to stand or walk for long. He needed a wheelchair to get around.

Even so, Alex was proud—he cared about maintaining his dignity. He refused help from the nurse trailing behind him, insisting on steering the wheelchair himself with the remote.

It was obvious he wasn’t very practiced; it took him several tries just to maneuver the chair around the corner outside the hospital room.

Emily turned her gaze away.

This car accident must have been the hardest ordeal Mr. White had faced in his life.

Three days passed since Alex had last come to see her. Now, he was back.

He’d graduated from the wheelchair to a cane, though every step looked painful. Emily watched as he hobbled from the doorway to the sofa, beads of sweat forming across his brow.

She studied him calmly. “Have you made up your mind?”

Alex set the cane aside and caught his breath. “I have.”

Emily waited, giving him the space to continue.

He looked awkward, keeping his eyes on the floor, his voice softer than usual—none of his usual composure or sharpness. “I’ve decided I need to see Matthew Ross. I need to know the whole truth.”
