My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 680

She didn’t feel anything for Andrew Lane anymore.

No longing, no affection.

And marriage? That was out of the question.

All those bizarre dreams Tristan Davis kept having—well, to Emily Blair, they were nothing short of a joke.

Her voice was calm and even. “I haven’t been involved with him for ages, so there’s nothing for me to feel.”

Tristan stared stubbornly at the back of her head. “At least turn around when you’re talking to me. Don’t talk to me with your back turned.”

With a sigh, Emily glanced at the driver up front, still focused on the road, then turned to face Tristan, her tone sharp. “Did you hit your head or something? Why are you asking such stupid questions?”

She could see in the rearview mirror that the driver was staring dead ahead, not daring to move his gaze an inch.

He’d definitely heard her.

Whenever Emily lost her temper, Tristan was at a complete loss. He edged closer, whining, “You have no idea how mean you were to me in my dream.”

In the dream, he’d flown into a rage, determined to carry Emily off, fighting his way through a crowd of wedding guests just to get to her. But when he finally reached her, Emily and Andrew Lane had teamed up to take him down.

That’s what woke him up—furious.

Now Tristan was gripping Emily’s arms with both hands. “I just came for a little comfort. You don’t have to bite my head off.”

Emily shot him a look that was hard to decipher. “Then maybe you should go back to sleep and sort things out with dream-me.”

“Not a chance,” Tristan retorted immediately.

She pried his hands off. “Would you be quiet for once?”

Work was as hectic as ever, and at six o’clock sharp, Emily clocked out and headed with Tristan to the hospital where Elizabeth Wilson’s grandmother was staying.

In the past couple of days, her grandmother’s condition had improved a lot—she could finally eat on her own again.
