Vivian had considered going out for a walk. However, the situation in Briarpatch was chaotic.
When she went to the government office yesterday, she hadn't seen any prosperous streets, and even fewer shops were open.
For now, she chose to stay in her room, reading a book to calm herself and plan how she could find Skylar and Joe.
More importantly, she needed to approach that couple to verify if they were truly her parents.
The situation in Briarpatch was complicated, and she felt like she needed time to think. Perhaps, when Manfred needed advice, she could offer some.
Of course, she believed that by the time Manfred arrived in Briarparch, he would already have a clear understanding of the situation and a plan for how to deal with it.
Her thoughts were tangled, one after another, but then another idea crossed her mind—she suddenly remembered the woman Manfred had feelings for.
"You can't stop me. I'll only see Ms. Martin for a moment and then leave. I have questions for her, and once I ask them, I'll leave Briarpatch willingly.
"Let me go!
"Don't stop me. I'll take full responsibility for the consequences!"
The sound of a woman's voice came through. Vivian recognized the voices immediately. It was the woman Manfred had feelings for.
She wondered if she was trying to meet her.
Quickly, she closed her book and walked out of the room. She made her way toward the direction of the voices. Not far ahead, she saw Mabel being stopped by several people.
The people blocking Mabel were trying to persuade her kindly.
"Why? Why would they treat a mere beggar this way?" she thought.
Suddenly, a voice called out to her. "Are you looking for me?"
Mabel turned quickly. When she saw Vivian, she froze.
For a moment, she thought she had made a mistake. The woman before her looked nothing like the dirty, dark-skinned beggar she had seen the day before.
But now, standing before her, Vivian was stunning. Her eyes shone like stars, her skin pale and flawless, almost delicate enough to break at a touch. Her features were sharp and striking, a beauty that made it impossible to look away.
The same eyes that had stunned her the day before now left her even more in awe.
