Mr. Norman, She's Out of Your League Now novel Chapter 33

After leaving the research institute, Charlotte headed straight home.

The moment she entered the door, Amber ran up to welcome her.

"Welcome home, Mommy! You worked so hard today!" she exclaimed sweetly.

Amber even thoughtfully brought over Charlotte's slippers. Then she dashed back to the living room to pour a glass of water for her.

"You're such a good girl!"

Charlotte's heart warmed instantly. She smiled as she took her daughter into her arms and kissed her. "What did you do today? Did you go out and play?"

"Yes!" Amber nodded and told her about her search for the kitten.

However, she didn't mention a word about running into Brian as she feared it would upset Charlotte.

They spoke briefly until Rose came over to call them for dinner.

After dinner, Charlotte's mother, Claudia, called from Juxburg.

Charlotte answered immediately.

"Lottie, how were things at the branch office today? Was the work tiring?" her mother asked.

Hearing her mother's gentle voice, Charlotte quickly replied, "It's not tiring at all. Although the workload is a bit heavy, I can manage."

Claudia felt her heart break at the thought of her hard-working daughter. Her tone carried a tinge of blame as she sighed and said, "It's all your father's fault. You wouldn't have to return to that place if it weren't for his busy schedule. When he returns, I'll make sure to punish him."

Charlotte sensed her mother's affection and concern for her.

She chuckled. "Go easy on Dad. He's also doing his best."

Amber chimed in to help Claudia, saying, "Grandma, make sure you punish Grandpa!"

Her words caused both Charlotte and Claudia to burst out laughing.

"Grandpa spoils you so much. He'd be heartbroken if he knew you secretly wanted him to get punished!" Charlotte said as she playfully pinched her daughter's soft cheeks.

"Well, what can I say? Grandma and I love Mommy the most!" Amber giggled.

The two villas faced each other. Through the windows, he could see the lights on in her home. Just watching from a distance made him happy.

Since she was home and they were now neighbors, he wondered if he could go over and say hi.

With that thought, he immediately lit up with excitement.

He sprang up, dashed to find the butler, and asked, "Do we have any gifts at home? Like fruit, or something? I want to give a gift!"

His face was beaming with delight. He was excited to see Charlotte.

Brian overheard and asked, "Who are you giving a gift to at this hour?"

"To the villa across us! After all, we're neighbors. Shouldn't we build a good relationship with one another?" Kayden answered.

He even reasoned, "Besides, Pretty Ma'am is your attending doctor now. We have to give her a gift!"

Brian scowled. "What does it have to do with the neighbors?"

Kayden gave his father a look of dissatisfaction.
