Chapter 753 She’s Been Waiting for Maggie’s Call

Chapter 753 She’s Been Waiting for Maggie’s Call

Franklin said, “I’ve got this under control.”

When Felix first learned about Franklin and Julia’s affair, he’d tried to talk some sense into his son, just like everyone

else around him.

Back then, Franklin had given him this exact same reply.

Felix knew what that meant.

Franklin did not want his father meddling too deeply in his affairs.

Franklin always appeared respectful toward him, but when Franklin set his mind against something, he almost never

listened to a word Felix said.

If Franklin refused to heed his advice, there was honestly very little Felix could do.

When it came to business matters, Felix trusted Franklin to handle everything properly.

So he chose not to push the topic any further. They exchanged a few more brief pleasantries before ending the call.

Franklin handed the phone back to the housekeeper, then knocked once more on the bedroom door. “Isabella, can we

talk?”

Still no answer from inside.

Franklin knocked for a little while longer. When Isabella remained silent, he turned toward Sara. “Was she crying on

the ride home?”

Sara nodded. “Yes.”

And she’d cried really hard.

Isabella rarely let herself break down like that.

After a while, the time for his meeting arrived.

Since Isabella still wouldn’t respond, Franklin stood outside the closed door and spoke gently. “Isabella, Dad has to head into a meeting now. If you need anything, come find me in my study, okay?”

The room stayed completely quiet.

Franklin paused, deciding not to press her harder.

He turned to Sara instead. “Go check on her in a little while.”

Sara said. “I will, but-”

“She’s just upset and doesn’t want to speak to me. Call out to her a few times; she’ll answer you.”

“Understood.”

Franklin spoke a couple more soft words toward Isabella’s door before walking away.

It was over two hours later by the time he finished all his work.

Stepping out of the study, Franklin headed straight for Isabella’s bedroom.

By then, Isabella had fallen asleep.

Her brows remained pinched tight even in her rest. Franklin lifted a hand and gently smoothed the furrow between

them.

He lingered for a moment, then quietly turned and left the room.

Sara had stayed awake, knowing Franklin would want an update on Isabella once he wrapped up his work.

As Franklin stepped out and pulled the bedroom door shut, she spoke up right away.

“Isabella barely said a single word all night. I think she was waiting for her mom’s call. She refused to go to bed even when it got late. Mrs. Wilson never phoned, and eventually she couldn’t fight the exhaustion anymore. She fell asleep holding her phone about thirty minutes ago.”

Franklin hummed softly. He did not ask any more questions. “You can go get some rest now.”

Over on the other side of town, Maggie and Johnny finished all their work just as dawn broke.

Every person in the conference room was worn to the bone, drained completely. Maggie and Johnny were also running on fumes, barely holding themselves upright.

Still, Maggie stared down at her phone, lost in thought.

Johnny knew she was worried sick about Isabella. “If you want to call her, just do it.”

Maggie snapped back to the present. “It’s too early. She’s still asleep.”
