Perhaps sensing Maggie’s reluctance to speak with him, Franklin shifted the topic after she finished ordering. “Isabella has a very important competition out of town next Thursday. Will you be free that day?”
“Yeah, Mommy,” Isabella chimed in, “will you come with me?”
Since the event was out of town, it would take at least two days for the round trip. Cole, Jamison Group, and Wilson Group all demanded Maggie’s attention–she wasn’t sure she could spare the time.
She hesitated. But before she could answer, Isabella read her hesitation and already guessed her response.
How many times had Maggie told her the same thing? I’m busy. I’ll come if I have time.
Yet even on weekends, even when Isabella stayed at her great–grandmother’s, even under the same roof, Maggie hardly ever spared her time.
Thinking of it, Isabella clenched her fork, rubbing it back and forth against her plate. Before Maggie could speak, she mumbled, head lowered, “At the training match the other day, every other kid had their mom or dad there.
Everyone… except me.”
At first, when she learned Franklin couldn’t come, she hadn’t minded much. She was used to traveling with the
household staff.
But seeing other parents transform into cheerleaders for their children–cheering, clapping, being there every step–loneliness had struck her hard.
She had called her mother right then. No answer. Her father had picked up instead.
Hearing Isabella’s voice now, Maggie froze. Words stuck in her throat.
Her silence was answer enough. Isabella’s nose turned red; she pressed her lips tightly together and turned away.
n the past, no matter how busy Maggie had been, she would have tried to make time somehow.
But now… she had told herself to let go of Isabella.
And yet, faced with her daughter’s obvious pain, Maggie’s heart softened instantly.
Still… still.
She drew a breath and asked Franklin instead, “You won’t be free either?”

Chapter 390
“Since Grandmother’s incident, I’ve postponed much work. Tuesday is the final deadline. I must be in Dallas.”
Maggie frowned, hands tightening in silence.
Watching them push responsibility back and forth, Isabella’s eyes filled.
She flung her fork onto the table and glared. “If you’re both too busy, then don’t come at all. I’ll go by myself!”
With that, she bolted toward the door.
Maggie had rarely ever seen Isabella so angry.
She froze. Before she could react, Franklin had already moved, scooping Isabella up just as she reached for the
doorknob.
Isabella struggled. “Let me go!”

Alguém saberia dizer o que houve com o livro, sem atualização a tempos...
Nada de episódio novo?...
Does the book stop? When are we going to get a new chapter?...
Olá, A história parou no capítulo 288? O nome do livro me gerou mais expectativas, quando ela realmente vai desprezar os dois e brilhar???...
Everytime I read new updates I am hoping to see Maggie completely moving on with her life not always checking where Franklin is up to with Julia. I think everyone reading this story by now understand that Franklin doesn't care about Julia. So what is the point of always pointing out how indifferent Franklin is to Maggie and how attentive he is towards Julia....
What does Helen mean Maggie is still married? Married to whom? Franklin has made it clear that he doesn't consider her anything and is flaunting his relationship with Julia for anyone who has eyes to witness it.So Maggie should wait for the divorce to be finalized to date. Isn't that double standards. And Franklin is dragging the divorce deliberately since divorced or not he does what he wants without any consequences. Really women are emotionally oppressed even authors only know that point of view 😕...
I feel sad for Maggie and all married women who have to endure emotional abuse with no end in sight. By the look of it,Franklin doesn't want to divorce Maggie for whatever reason. Either the reason is good or bad, Maggie shouldn't be humiliated like this just because she loves him. And the grandmother should be helping her get a divorce not emotionally blackmailing her, if she really cared about her. Franklin is using Maggie's love for the grandmother to abuse her. Is really loving people wrong? Author this one-sided hurt is not right. Let Maggie move on with dignity. It shouldn't end up with Franklin professing his love for her and her accepting it....
