Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 726

"Mandy, today’s the day of your grandma’s surgery. She adores you so much, how come you’re not here?"

"Dad, I totally spaced! I'm so sorry, I was busy throwing a birthday bash for Xavier. I completely forgot. Has grandma gone into surgery yet?"

"She's already in the OR."

Mandy replied, "When will grandma be out of surgery? I'll head to the hospital once she's done."

"Mandy, you're really disappointing your grandma, especially after all the love she's given you. I didn't raise a daughter to be so wrapped up in her love life!"

Ayala added, "With Josie back, our family just keeps getting better. She’s a real lucky charm!"

"Uncle, Aunt, you're too kind. Grandma is family to me too; it’s all in a day’s work," Josefina replied politely.

She took a shortcut past the teaching building, through a grove of trees, saving some time.

But before she could clear the grove, Josefina stopped dead in her tracks, sensing danger approaching.

Looking around, she saw no one.

The grove was usually bustling with passersby.

“What’s going on today? Why’s it so deserted?”

Josefina called out, “Who’s there? Come out! Hiding isn’t exactly heroic!”

Just as she was about to move, a baseball bat came flying toward her...
