Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 725

Hearing Evan's words, Mandy was completely taken aback. "Seriously? Dad, you better not be messing with me."

"Why would I lie to you? I'm flat broke. You always said Xavier was so capable, so why isn't he coming to save the day?" Evan sighed deeply, practically sighing with every sentence he spoke.

No matter what Mandy said, Evan wouldn't budge, insisting they were out of money.

After hanging up, Ayala felt a swirl of emotions.

"Our Mandy, she's never known hardship. We've always given her everything she wanted. I never imagined she'd grow up to be so defiant!"

Ayala added, "Don’t mention my pregnancy to Mandy. I'm worried it might be too much for her."

Evan nodded. "We'll talk about it later. That rascal Xavier, I’d love to knock some sense into him!"

...

Xavier navigated the streets, taking several detours to ensure he wasn't being followed, before arriving at an exclusive club.

He pushed open the door to one of the private rooms and locked it behind him.

A woman, bundled up so tightly her gender was only discernible by her silhouette, sat across from him.

Sitting down, Xavier spoke with a stern voice, "Your plan’s useless now! Evan’s going bankrupt!"

The woman laughed. "So? You're going to give up on Mandy?"

"Her family's broke, and their company’s tanking. What’s the point of sticking with her? I've got better options!"

The woman snorted. "Men, always chasing after their own interests. But, I suggest you cool your jets. Some things aren't as they appear."

"What should I be looking at, then?" Xavier huffed.

"Consider the Harrisons. Evan is Hattie's godfather, and their families are thick as thieves. Hattie won’t just stand by and watch Evan struggle. If push comes to shove, have Mandy apologize, make her swallow her pride with Josefina."

"Do you honestly think that's possible? You're a woman. Would you be happy being forced to apologize like that?"

The woman was momentarily speechless. That comment struck a nerve.

Enraged, she retorted, "Got any better ideas?"

Dominic didn’t ask questions; he simply observed.

...

Josefina took advantage of an afternoon off school to arrange surgery for Alivia.

Percy, along with four assistants, came to support the operation.

To give the old lady a reason to fight for her life, Evan told her about Ayala's pregnancy.

The news thrilled her immensely, as if she couldn't wait to meet the child.

After exchanging a few words, Alivia was wheeled into surgery, with the family waiting outside.

...

Evan stepped into the stairwell, pulling out his phone to call Mandy.
