Shay turned to Sydney, eyes blazing. "Mom, can you believe this? Josefina totally played us. We can't just let her get away with it!"
Sydney, equally furious, felt her hopes of walking shatter. "Call security!" she demanded, her voice trembling with anger.
Shay glared at Josefina with a look that could kill. "Josefina, you're done for!"
With Oliver not around, they could easily get rid of Josefina, making it look like an unfortunate accident.
Right then, Luke and Dominic burst onto the scene.
Seeing the tension, Luke quickly moved to Josefina's side. "What's going on here?" Dominic asked, confused.
Shay sneered, "Dominic, I told you Josefina couldn't be trusted, but you wouldn't listen. She admitted she has no cure. So, why invite her over in the first place?"
Josefina shrugged, "I agreed to check on Sydney for Dominic. Never promised a miracle cure!"
Josefina had her own reasons for coming, none of which included miraculously healing Sydney.
Dominic stayed calm, treating Josefina with the same politeness as before. "What's happening here?"
"I just said I'd come to check on Mrs. Sydney. I never guaranteed I'd cure her," Josefina reiterated. "Even Grandpa Brandon heard me say it. If you don't believe me, ask him."
"Stop making excuses, Josefina. It's all your fault!" Shay was out for blood.
"Are you even listening to us?" Luke scoffed at Shay, mocking her.
Sydney's demeanor shifted instantly, her smile sweet but laced with a hint of respect. "Dad, it's all a misunderstanding. We weren't bullying Josie."
"A misunderstanding? I saw it with my own eyes. What kind of misunderstanding is this? Shay, tell me, what's going on? You were glaring at Josie like she was your worst enemy. Are my eyes deceiving me?"
Brandon positioned himself protectively beside Josefina, demanding an explanation on her behalf.
Luke quickly interjected, "Sir, Shay here was about to get physical with us."
Shay's arrogance dissipated, replaced by a conciliatory tone. "Grandpa, it's really a misunderstanding. Here's what happened: Josefina promised Dominic she'd come to look at Mom's leg. But then she tells us she can't cure it. Grandpa, don't you think Josefina's playing us?"
"From what you've said, Josie never guaranteed she'd heal Sydney's leg. So, Shay, is it your hearing that's faulty, or is it Dominic's speech?" Brandon's words put both Shay and Dominic in their place.
