After Josefina finished speaking, Oliver stayed silent.
"Oliver?" she whispered, wondering if she had approached the topic wrong.
Trying a different tactic, she asked more directly, "Oliver, can you hear me?"
Still, Oliver didn’t respond, leaving Josefina both shocked and a bit scared.
She decided to end the hypnosis session and tried to wake Oliver, but no matter what she said, he wouldn’t come around.
Josefina was pretty freaked out. What on earth was wrong with Oliver?
She shook Oliver gently, pleading, "Oliver, wake up. Can you hear me?"
It was supposed to be a simple hypnosis session. How had it gone so wrong?
The quiet of the lounge seemed to amplify her concern, as if Oliver couldn’t hear her at all.
Panicking, Josefina grabbed Oliver’s hand and shook it lightly.
Driven by desperation, she leaned over and kissed his lips.
After a long moment with no response, Josefina felt both embarrassed and awkward.
She wished she’d never tried the hypnosis.
Sitting next to him, she noticed Oliver's brows were furrowed in frustration, his features twisted in anger.
Whispering in his ear, Josefina said, "Oliver, someone's messing with me."
Soon after, Oliver began to stir.
"Oliver, you're finally awake," Josefina exclaimed, wrapping her arms around him.
Sitting up, Oliver's familiar embrace was comforting to Josefina.
