When Hattie heard that Mandy's mom, Ayala, was almost at the door, she had the bodyguard bring Mandy to the entrance to wait.
No matter what Mandy said, Hattie wouldn't budge.
Ayala arrived, spotting Mandy being held by the bodyguard. She got out of the car, pulled Mandy in with her, and sat her down.
Ayala's face was full of exasperation. "My little troublemaker, what have you gotten yourself into this time? Haven't your aunt and uncle treated you well? You’ve been showered with love by the Harrison family since you were a baby. Isn't that enough? Maybe it's my fault for being too lenient. Mandy, why would you go against Josefina? You should be grateful for the opportunities."
Mandy was fuming, "I wouldn’t side with Josefina if my life depended on it! I don’t care about her so-called golden opportunities!"
Ayala sighed, clearly frustrated, "Mandy, think about it. If you messed up and I took you back, wouldn’t I still love you?"
"Hmph, Mom, you’re supposed to love only me! I won't make a mistake like that!"
Ayala explained, "I'm just saying 'what if'. You're getting upset over this, so you should consider Josefina’s situation too. Lena isn’t a Harrison by blood, yet the Harrisons still treated her well. Even her going abroad is a good thing. As for you, upsetting your aunt like this, do you think you can still be part of the Harrison family? Will your aunt still adore you?"
"I don’t need their affection if it’s all for Josefina!" Mandy retorted angrily.
"Mandy, maybe I’ve spoiled you too much. You’re my treasure, but out there, who else will cherish you like I do?"
Mandy covered her ears, refusing to listen to Ayala.
Running out of options, Ayala messaged Evan, asking him to rein in Mandy.
Annika apologized to Josefina, who comforted her in return, "Annika, it’s not your fault. If anything, it’s on me for making Mandy feel the need to drag him into this."
"Ms. Josefina, you did nothing wrong. Some people are just too vile," Annika couldn’t help but lament.
