Garrett chimed in with a cheerful tone, "Money's no issue in our family. Girls should definitely treat themselves more."
Dorian offered, "Josie, you’ve got orientation on Wednesday, right? How about I drive you?"
Hattie glanced at Dorian with a hint of amusement. "Dorian, what are you thinking? Josie's my daughter. Obviously, I'll be the one taking her!"
Garrett agreed, "Exactly. Your mom and I will take your sister. Dorian, you should head back to the office."
Josefina couldn't help but smile wryly, thankful her other two brothers weren't around. Otherwise, the whole family might end up competing to take her, leaving her no chance to decline.
"I was thinking of going by myself," Josefina explained. "Dad, Mom, Dorian, your profiles are too recognizable. I'd like to keep a low profile."
Being with them would draw unnecessary attention everywhere, stripping her of any freedom.
"I just want to keep things low-key and really experience college life," she added, her voice laced with a hint of longing.
Despite possessing numerous alter egos, she yearned for an authentic college experience.
Lauren always teased her for being naive, doubting her ability to get into college.
But Josefina proved her wrong by working hard and securing her college admission, stepping out from Lauren's shadow.
Her life was on an upward trajectory now!
Her family, respecting her wishes, reluctantly agreed.
...
In the two days leading up to the start of school, Josefina prepared her essentials and clothes, then spent some time at Hattie's salon for a beauty treatment.
As the evening approached, Grandpa Brandon and Oliver came by, their arms laden with gifts for everyone in the Harrison family, leaving no one out.
