Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 607

Josefina's words hung in the air, and all three of them went silent, their eyes fixed on her with a gentle intensity.

Breaking the quiet, Josefina added, "My martial arts coach is coming to Westwood in a couple of days. He wants to drop by. This coach, he's the one who pulled me from the clutches of human traffickers back in the day and taught me how to defend myself."

At Josefina's revelation, Hattie's eyes welled up with tears. "Human traffickers? Josie, what kind of life were you living before?"

Hattie felt her heart break, seeing the sweet and sensible Josie now and thinking about all she had been through. It just didn't sit well with her.

Josefina continued, "Mom, it's all in the past. My fellow students were all kind to me, and my senior sister took good care of me too. Before I left, my coach even set up a drill to see if I could break through an encirclement, to test if I could truly protect myself."

Drill?

The word triggered a unified thought about a particular photograph.

Garrett felt it couldn't be kept from Josefina any longer, so he took out the photograph and laid it on the table.

"Josie, this photograph, is it the one?"

Josefina was genuinely surprised. It indeed was the photograph.

"Dad, how did this photograph end up in our house?" Josefina asked.

Dorian explained, "Someone sent me an anonymous package. When I opened it, it was filled with malicious words about you and this photograph. The letter claimed you were a notorious hitman, ruthless and bloodthirsty, a killer of both gods and demons."

Hattie frowned, "Our Josie couldn't possibly be this cruel girl. Josie is so kind and understanding. Those people are just slandering her!"

Garrett chimed in, "Josie, we didn't believe a word of it. You're my daughter, and I know your character. You're not that kind of person."

Hattie added, "Josie, I didn't believe it either. You've done so much for our family. You're not some cold-hearted assassin."

Feeling supported by her family, Josefina was deeply moved.
