Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 1202

Cassandra was making her way to the principal’s office when she ran into Josefina.

Cassandra shot her a glare sharp enough to cut glass—cold, venomous, and impossible to ignore.

Josefina’s guard went up instantly, her own eyes just as frosty.

“Fiona, you must be loving this. Me in trouble? Bet you’re thrilled. But let me tell you, none of these people can actually do anything to me.”

“Oh.”

Cassandra blinked, caught off guard. “That’s all you’ve got? I’m talking to you and you just say ‘oh’?”

Josefina raised an eyebrow. “What else do you want? Should I light fireworks? Throw you a party because you’re having a meltdown?” She grinned. “Didn’t know you were into that kind of thing. You surprise me.”

Cassandra’s jaw clenched. She looked like she was about to explode.

Josefina went on, her tone both amused and sharp. “You’re really desperate for results, aren’t you? News flash: paraquat’s no joke. It can cause kidney failure and mess up your lungs for good. You think you’ll just whip up an antidote? If you’re so eager, why not stick to your own lab? Why come all the way to the University of Melbourne? Whoever approved your project must have a screw loose—or maybe they’re about to get investigated too.”

The words hit Cassandra hard. Her whole expression changed in an instant.

That’s when it hit her—she’d been set up, played from the start.

Josefina didn’t let up. “The people you’re working with? They’re just using you to do their dirty work. And when it all blows up, you’ll be the one taking the fall. You’re smart, Cassandra, but sometimes being clever backfires.”

Cassandra took a step back, wary. “If you think you’re going to get anything out of me, keep dreaming.”

She stormed off, her anger almost visible.

She hadn’t gone far when someone pointed her out.

“Cassandra, you’ve got some nerve coming back! I almost died because of you! But look at you, strutting around like nothing happened.”
